The Yorùbá Chief Imam for the Ketu South Municipality and Proprietor of Al-Munawwarat Academy in Aflao, Chief Imam Abdul Lateef Abdul-Salam, has called on all Muslims, particularly members of the Yorùbá community in the Volta Region, across Ghana and neighbouring Togo, to use the holy month of Ramadan to seek the mercy, guidance, and blessings of Allah.
In an exclusive interview with News Volta to mark the commencement of Ramadan on Wednesday , February 18, 2026, the Chief Imam urged Islamic faithful to intensify their prayers, fasting, and acts of charity, asking Allah to increase their faith, grace, peace, and love within families and communities.
He prayed for divine strength for all Muslims, both young and old, to successfully observe the fast, and appealed for Allah’s blessings upon Ghana and its leadership, stressing that national peace and stability depend largely on collective prayers and righteous living.
“Ramadan is a sacred period of deep reflection, sacrifice, discipline, and spiritual renewal. It is a time to draw closer to Allah, purify our hearts, strengthen family bonds, and promote peace and unity in society,” Chief Imam Abdul Lateef Abdul-Salam stated.
He further offered special prayers and blessings for all who would observe the fast, asking Allah to make the period a source of renewed faith, love, grace, peace, and prosperity in their households.
Educating the public on the importance of Ramadan in Islam, the Chief Imam explained that the holy month commemorates the revelation of the Holy Qur’an and serves as a period for spiritual purification, self-discipline, forgiveness, and compassion for the needy. He encouraged Muslims to strictly observe the ordinances of Ramadan through prayer, fasting, almsgiving, and moral uprightness.
Chief Imam Abdul Lateef Abdul-Salam also called on Muslims to extend love, tolerance, and support to one another, emphasizing that Ramadan should inspire unity, peaceful coexistence, and social responsibility.
He concluded by praying for Allah’s continued protection over Ketu South, the Volta Region, Ghana, and the entire Muslim Ummah, wishing all believers a peaceful and rewarding Ramadan.
