Ghana’s Ambassador to Togo, His Excellency Bright Solomon Kumordzi, who also serves as the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Constituency Chairman for Ketu South, has called on residents of the constituency to remain calm and await the outcome of ongoing traditional consultations on the proposed elevation of the Ketu South Municipal Assembly to Metropolitan status.
Addressing the Media , H.E Kumordzi said, extensive engagements have already been held with the three traditional paramountcies in the constituency to gather their views and concerns on the metropolitan upgrade.
The traditional authorities consulted include the Aflao Traditional Area, led by Torgbui Adzonugaga Amenya Fiti V; the Somé Traditional Area, headed by Torgbiga Adama III, who also doubles as President of the Somé Traditional Council; and the Klikor Traditional Area, led by Torgbui Addo IX
Mr. Kumordzi explained that the engagements focused first on the overall elevation of Ketu South itself to a Metropolitan Assembly, before any subsequent considerations relating to constituency configuration or development spin-offs associated with the upgrade.
He noted that the traditional leaders openly shared their perspectives, expectations, and development priorities, which will inform the broader decision-making process going forward.
The Ambassador assured constituents that the NDC remains fully committed to ensuring that the proposed metropolitan status translates into real development benefits, including improved infrastructure, expanded administrative capacity, job creation, and enhanced service delivery across Ketu South.
He disclosed that Ketu South was not originally listed among the municipal assemblies slated for elevation, but credited the intervention and vision of President John Dramani Mahama and the leadership of the NDC for prioritising the municipality.
Mr. Kumordzi commended the national leadership of the party, particularly NDC National Chairman Johnson Asiedu Nketia, General Secretary Fifi Fiavi Kwetey, National Organiser Joseph Yamin, and other party executives and stakeholders whose efforts, he said, contributed to pushing Ketu South onto the national development agenda.
He urged residents, party supporters, and opinion leaders to remain engaged, united, and patient as the consultation process continues, stressing that inclusive dialogue is key to achieving a metropolitan status that reflects the aspirations of the people.
