The Member of Parliament for Ketu South and Minister for Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, Hon. Abla Dzifa Gomashie, has donated film and production equipment valued at GH₵100,000 to creative arts groups in her constituency to strengthen Ewe film and comedy production.

The gesture, according to the Minister, forms part of her ongoing efforts to empower young talents and promote the creative economy in Ketu South. She emphasized the potential of Ewe-language films to gain traction both locally and internationally, noting that Ewe is spoken across Ghana, Togo, Benin, parts of Nigeria, and among diaspora communities worldwide.

Hon. Gomashie urged the beneficiaries to carefully maintain the equipment and consider establishing a maintenance fund to ensure sustainability, stressing the importance of responsible use and collective ownership.

Celebrated Ghanaian filmmaker Mr. Ivan Quashigah, known for hit productions such as Things We Do for Love, YOLO, Mataa – Our Missing Children, and Inspector Bediako, graced the event. He commended the MP’s initiative and pledged to train the groups on effective equipment use and collaborate on future projects.

The Municipal Chief Executive for Ketu South, Hon. Nicolas Worklachie (Ezo), encouraged the creatives to produce compelling and educational storylines that can project the municipality and region positively.

Expressing gratitude, veteran actor Mr. Blackmoore Ayivor, on behalf of the beneficiaries, thanked Hon. Gomashie for her unwavering support to the arts and pledged that the equipment would be used to elevate the quality of film production in Ketu South. He also called for unity and collaboration among filmmakers in the Volta Region to drive the industry forward.
